Jesse occurs as most common 1st title around numerous English speaking countries. This spelling is virtually all typically utilized when a male variant of the title, when Jessie (shortened from Jessica) is the most common spelling for the female variant.
Origin
Jesse or even Yishai (Hebrew יִשַׁי / יֵשַׁי, Standard Hebrew Yíšay / Yéšay, Tiberian Hebrew Yíšay / Yēšay) is the father of the Biblical King David mentioned in the Books of Samuel of the Hebrew Bible. David is for instance known as only "Son of Jesse" (ben yishai). Jesse was a boy of Obed, the grandson of Ruth. In the Talmud it says Yishai was one of four men (a others come Benjamin, Amram, and Chileab) never to have committed the sin.
